In-Vehicle Driver Analysis System: today's situation compared with the EntropyWork solution

Today

Violations are noticed after accidents

There is no numerical driver score.

With EntropyWork

Risky behavior is visible instantly

Phone, smoking and seat belt violations become a score; raw video does not go to the center.

Schematic illustration; values shown are examples.
The situation today

Fleet operators, municipalities and transport companies today mostly track driver behavior through complaints, post-accident investigation, driver reports or random recording review. What falls short:

  • Violations such as phone use, smoking and seat belt are noticed only after the event.
  • There is no comparable numerical score between drivers.
  • Loss of attention is not measured.
  • Behavior and vehicle data are not linked to each other.

How it works, in four steps

Pick a step to follow the data from the field to the center.

Step 01

Driver camera

In-cabin video

Step 02

In-vehicle device

Video is processed on the vehicle

Step 03

Verification

Confirmed violations only

Step 04

Driver score

No raw video sent

Operating principle
  • The camera is mounted on the windshield or rear-view mirror area so that it sees the driver.
  • The image is processed on the edge device in the vehicle.
  • Temporal filtering is applied; momentary false detections are eliminated and only verified violations are recorded.
  • Only verified event data goes to the center; raw video is not sent. Transmission is over GSM.
  • Events are weighted by event type and converted into a driver score.

Key features

All features
  • Detection of talking on the phone, smoking, eating and drinking (water, coffee), and not wearing a seat belt
  • Estimation of focus (cognitive load) from physical movements and critical lapses
  • Preventing false alarms with temporal filtering
  • Scoring by event type, event duration and (if OBD is available) speed context; the score can be normalized per 100 km or per driving hour
  • Matching with integrated OBD vehicle data

Details

Only confirmed values are listed.

Driver cameraMounted on the windshield or rear-view mirror area so that it sees the driver.
In-vehicle edge deviceProcesses the image, detects behavior and sends verified event data to the center.
OBD connectionProvides vehicle data such as speed, harsh braking and acceleration (OBD Telematics is a separate product).
Web management panelPresents the driver score, event list and charts.
Integration

Integration

It is matched with integrated OBD vehicle data. OBD is also offered as a separate product. The data that can be matched are speed, harsh braking and sudden acceleration, engine RPM, accelerator pedal and fuel consumption; the matching gives behavior context.

  • Using a phone at 90 km/h is far more critical than using it while stationary.
  • Harsh braking following a loss of attention is a risk pattern.

Outputs and reporting

Through the web management panel:

  • Per-driver score and historical queries
  • Event list: start, end, duration
  • Timestamped evidence screenshot of the moment of violation
  • Driving safety and mental lapse charts
Installation and support

Support, maintenance and warranty

  • Remote update, maintenance in case of failure or annually
  • The warranty period is 2 years.

Data and security

  • There is no continuous video recording.
  • A screenshot is archived at the moment of violation.
  • Only verified event data goes to the center.
Areas of use
  • Fleet operators
  • Municipalities
  • Transport companies
