The situation today

Municipalities, excavation site operators and environmental agencies today mostly track excavation trucks through manual recording by on-site personnel, paper waybills, document checks and, from time to time, visual checks by an inspection team. What falls short:

  • Vehicles that dump illegally are not noticed or cannot be proven afterwards.
  • Transport without a tarp (dust and spillage) cannot be inspected.
  • Manually kept records may be wrong, incomplete or manipulated.
  • It cannot be measured which truck passed when, and whether it was full or empty.

How it works, in four steps

Pick a step to follow the data from the field to the center.

Daily and weekly

Operating principle
  • Cameras are positioned at the entrance and exit of the site or at designated route points.
  • The system detects the excavation truck by classifying the vehicles in the image.
  • The license plate of the detected truck is read and transferred to the system.
  • Whether the bed is covered with a tarp and whether it is full or empty is determined by image analysis.

Cameras already installed on the site (existing IP/ONVIF/RTSP cameras) are integrated. New cameras are added at points without cameras; thus the system can both use the existing infrastructure and be extended with new cameras.

Key features

All features
  • Excavation truck detection through classification
  • Plate reading and transfer to the system
  • Covered/uncovered tarp detection
  • Full/empty detection
  • Integration with existing cameras, adding new cameras if needed
  • Processing on the site edge device

Integration

Integration

Connects to existing camera and NVR infrastructures (ONVIF/RTSP). It can be integrated with excavation tracking systems and municipal software via API.

Outputs and reporting

  • Truck passage record: plate, time, photo
  • Covered/uncovered and full/empty information
  • Alerts for violations such as uncovered transport; on the panel, and by SMS or email if desired
  • Daily and weekly passage reports, violation list
  • Data transfer to other systems via API
Installation and support

Installation

Installation time depends on the site size and the number of cameras. It takes close to half a day on a site where an existing camera is used, and about 1 day on a site where new cameras are installed.

Installation time varies by product and site.

Support, maintenance and warranty

  • Remote update is supported.
  • Maintenance is performed in case of failure or annually.
  • The warranty period is 2 years.

Data and security

  • Raw video is not recorded continuously.
  • Plate and event data (plate, time, photo) is sent to the center.
  • Retention period and location are determined according to the customer institution's policy.
Areas of use
  • Municipalities
  • Excavation site operators
  • Environmental agencies
